Norway Adventures
The Drive
We drove for 3 days but we are finally here! Norway! It was actually a beautiful drive to get here. We stopped at the Arctic Circle Center which was pretty cool. It is a store that is in the middle of nowhere but it marks that you have entered the Arctic Circle. I have never been this far north in my life!
We drove through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and then into Norway. It has been a crazy ride already and we have only just arrived.
When we were in Sweden still we saw a moose! I have never seen a moose in real life so that was pretty crazy. I also found out that there are different kinds of moose. The ones in northern Europe are smaller than the ones in Alaska. I guess I never really thought about moose enough to realize it.
Why We are Here
Bennett and his dad bought a house in Norway last year. The house is in a tiny town in Northern Norway. The town is so small there is only one restaurant which doubles as the only hotel in the town, there is also no real gas station, only a small pump right at the harbor.
The house is located on an island and is also the oldest house on the island. This island is located right on a fjord which makes the whole thing quite beautiful.
The reason we went there is like I mentioned above, the house is the oldest on the island. This means it needs a lot of work done to it.
First Few Days
The first night we stayed at the hotel in town. We also prepared to go over to the island the next night. The plan was difficult though due to the fact that the boat we had also bought hadn't been changed over into our name yet so we could not use it. Luckily, we knew someone in town that helped us find a boat we could borrow. This boat was a tiny little fishing boat though and we had to use it to bring all of our things over and cross the fjord without anything going overboard. Once again we were very lucky because the waves weren't too bad considering we were on the ocean! But everything got over safe and we started trying to figure out a gameplan.
We stayed on air mattresses the whole time and slowly started working on the things we wanted to get done in the short time we were there.
